Triad -- 13 days into July and we are 2.48" ahead on rainfall for the month. We are 8.77" ahead for the year. The coming week could bring just the break we've been needing.
As an upper level low pressure system begins to pull back to the west, we will get a much-needed break from the rain. There is still a 30% rain chance now through Sunday. After that, the chance drops back to 20% beginning on Monday. By Thursday and into next weekend, the chance is around 10%.
After all the rain, the ground is practically saturated in many spots. The lack of new rain will help the situation. The hot temperatures will also do their part to dry us out. Beginning Monday, every day this week will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, with plenty of sun to speed up the evaporation process.
Although the rain should leave us alone, the humidity won't. The high dew points aren't going anywhere. That means the combination of the heat and humidity could make it feel like the upper 90s by week's end.
You may be longing for those rainy days to return.
