Colfax, NC -- A local horse therapy facility hopes to take on another challenge to help people who might not know where to go.

"Even if they need a place to come in and to me, to rub a horse and smell a horse...there is nothing like it in the world," said Jan Clifford.

Horsepower Therapeutic Learning Center normally serves children with disabilities.

"And the goals are usually working on physical strength, core muscle strength, balance," Clifford said.

Now Horsepower wants to help veterans.

They've been approved as a location for the Wounded Warriors program.

Volunteer Chuck Hill said, "We hope to bring some closure to some of the stuff veterans are dealing with nowadays."

"To be able to bring this to the veteran's groups, it's very exciting to me. Especially as a veteran," said Hill.

"And horses have a way of knowing of how you are feeling that day. So, they are excellent for working with people who have challenges in their life," he said.

The Wounded Warriors project at Horsepower will begin in September.
