Greensboro, N.C. -- Two big business deals will have an impact on the Triad.
The looming gun manufacturing deal in Rockingham County could put it in a dominate position for competing businesses. Katie Arcieri with the Triad Business Journal appeared on WFMY News 2 to talk about its impact. Arcieri said one reason Strum, Ruger, and Company Inc. would like appeal to Rockingham County is because of its friendly environment for gun manufacturing. The deal could also lead to other businesses setting up shop like with suppliers. It's also a win for unemployment meaning the deal would bring up to 500 jobs over the course of a few years.
Another big business deal - Kroger buying out Harris Teeter in a $2.5 billion deal. Catherine Carlock with the Triad Business Journal also appeared on WFMY News 2. She said even though Kroger closed stores in the Triad that it didn't fully leave while still operating stores in Raleigh. However the reason why it left the Triad was because it swapped 10 stores from the Triad with stores in the state of Virginia.
