Lexington, NC -- A kidnapping suspect was found dead in Lexington Monday morning.
Police were searching for Erik William Lehr, 32, who they say was "armed and dangerous." They believed he was in the area of Lexington Business Park.
Lehr's body was found inside a shed behind a convenience store in the 300 block of Hargrave Road shortly before 8 am. Lexington Police said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police in High Point said the kidnapping happened in High Point, and was reported before 2 am Monday. Investigators said Lehr allegedly kidnapped a woman who he was in a relationship with at some point.
Officers with the Lexington Police Department said the victim was found in the 100 block of Lexington Parkway. They said Lehr ran away after the first officer arrived.
