Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Old Salem, the home of the first Independence Day celebration in 1783, hosted a naturalization ceremony welcoming 50 new citizens to the United States.
The July 4th ceremony welcomed dozens of people born in other countries who wanted to become Americans.
Each new citizen took the Oath of Allegiance and received a certificate of citizenship.
WFMY News 2 spent some time at the ceremony this afternoon, check out these stories from multimedia journalist Patrick Wright and photojournalist Mark Franklin.
