Greensboro, NC -- We are all tired of the monsoon weather pattern we have had for more than a week. It looks as though the Piedmont will gradually begin to dry out a bit as we head into the weekend as the rain chances decrease.
High pressure that has been between Hatteras and Bermuda has been in an ideal position to feed deep tropical moisture into the Eastern US The pattern has brought rainfall amounts well above normal over many areas.
The high will retrograde, or build westward, over the next few days. This will force the deep moisture westward into the Tennessee and Ohio Valley.
The current Flash Flood Watch for the mountains and foothills will expire at 8 pm this evening.
We will have a 50% chance of scattered, mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms today and Friday. The chance of rain will decrease to a 30% chance for the weekend.
