Greensboro, NC - Greensboro leaders will determine if the city will implement another teen curfew in a meeting, Wednesday morning.

The city of Greensboro tested out a teen curfew in 2011.

It banned anyone ages 18 and under from the Central Business District of Greensboro after 11:00 p.m. without a guardian.

The Central Business District includes all of Downtown Greensboro.

A city spokesman says less than 10 citations were written while this ordinance was on the books.

Neither High Point nor Winston-Salem has teen curfews, but south of the Piedmont, it's a different story.

The city of Charlotte enacted the Youth Protection Ordinance in 2011. It says juveniles ages 13-15 cannot be in a public place or business from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. without a parent or guardian. Juveniles under the age of 13 cannot be in a public place or business after 10 p.m. without a parent or guardian.

Cities aren't the only ones who have cracked down on teens. WFMY News 2's Morgan Hightower found out some businesses have, too.

"Anywhere that we have implemented these procedures and policies have been in response to what may have been at the time, increasing numbers of incidents of inappropriate or unruly behavior by youth," said Charles Gwinn, General Manager, Hanes Mall and Alamance Crossing.

Gwinn is the general manager of Hanes mall in Winston-Salem and Alamance Crossing in Burlington.  Both shopping centers have a Youth Escort Policy. It requires people 18 and under to be accompanied by a parent or guardian on Friday and Saturday nights after 6 p.m.

"We always strive to provide a enjoyable and pleasant shopping experience for our customers, and for our stores and we think that this allows that to happen and makes it a better shopping experience for all of our patrons," said Gwinn.

He added, "It's been a very positive experience on all accounts."

The Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro does not have a teen curfew. Neither does the Four Seasons Towne Centre or Tanger Outlets in Mebane. The Palladium Shopping Center in High Point enacted a teen curfew in 2010, but it's unclear it is still in effect.

Greensboro's teen curfew ordinance expired in December 2011.
