Lexington, NC-- Nanly Phan was killed Friday afternoon during rainy conditions when her car spun out of control and hit a tree on Lake Leonard Rd.
Trooper J.S. Vernon with the NC Highway Patrol told News 2 that Phan was doing roughly 70 mph in a 55 mph zone during rainy conditions around 4:20pm on Friday afternoon.
24-year-old Phan lost control, over-corrected, and hit a tree in a 1997 white Honda accord. She died on impact.
Trooper Vernon said the reconstruction team will investigate whether or not Phan's cell phone was a factor in the case. Her cell phone was found in her lap with a playlist open.
