After a woman was asked to lift and shake her bra when an officer pulled her over, WFMY News 2 asks, what are your rights when you are pulled over?

Attorney Jones Byrd with Crumpler, Freedman, Parker & Witt  joined WFMY News 2's Julie Luck to explain when they can search you.

"In order to pull you over in the first place, they have to have reasonable circumstances." Byrd said. "They might need to make sure you aren't armed."

Byrd gave the following points:

  • Authorities should only search you on top of your clothing.
  • The search has to be related to what they are pulling you over for.
  • If you're asked to get out of your car, it is a good idea to comply and be polite.
  • If you are asked to do something that you feel uncomfortable about, ask why. It is your right to ask why are you are being searched and why they want you to do something.
