Troy, NC-- Thursday's quick but destructive storm still has thousands without power and many roads impassable.
People who have called WFMY News 2 describe their area as a 'war zone'. Mainly, because of the number of trees and power lines that have fallen.
Power crews are working around the clock in an effort to restore electricity, but because of the extend of the damage, some may now have power until Sunday. Duke Energy said it has called in crews from the midwest to help.
In the southern part of the Triad, one county has issued a 'State of Emergency.' Friday, Montgomery County Emergency Management said it was issued after damage assessment in the county.
Also, the county has opened an emergency shelter. It is located at Page St. Elementary School. Anyone without power and would like to stay for the night can do so. If you need transportation you will need to call: 910-572-1313.
