Rockingham County, N.C. -- Got an overdue book? If so, you better bring some food with you to your next trip to the library in Rockingham County.

Rockingham County Public Libraries will waive a $1 overdue book fine for each non-perishable food item you donate. But you need to make sure all food donations have a current expiration date.

Donated food items at the Eden Library and Bookmobile will benefit the Salvation Army. But that's not all, food items donated to the Reidsville Library will go to the Outreach Center. Hands of God Ministry will benefit from food donations collected at Madison, Mayodan, and Stoneville Libraries.

You can also donate a food item even if you don't have an overdue book.

The Food For Fines program will continue until June 15th at all branches.
