Greensboro City Council Remembered Petty Officer Sean Brazas Who Was Killed In Afghanistan In 2012

Greensboro, NC -- Tuesday night, a former member of the Greensboro community was remembered at the Greensboro City Council meeting.

Petty Officer Second Class Sean Brazas was killed May 30, 2012 in Afghanistan. His family was present at the meeting as city leaders remembered this son, brother, husband and hero.

During the ceremony, Councilmember Marikay Abuzuaiter read letters while a slide show of Brazas was shown. Councilmember Diane Bellamy Small among others paid tribute to Brazas while singing the Star Spangled Banner.

Brazas died in combat while helping a comrade into a helicopter. His duties included being a K-9 handler in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to Naval Base Kitsap Security Detachment in Bremerton, Washington when he was killed.

He graduated from Western Guilford High School before entering the military.
