Asheboro, NC -- We could see more people out of jobs at Energizer, according to the Triad Business Journal.

The company has not announced where the cuts will happen, but 675 employees in Randolph County already have enough to worry about.

In March, Energizer started laying off 100 workers at three battery plants in Asheboro. The plant on W. Central Ave. is expected to close by December.

"This is not a static numerical equation for us," said Asheboro City Manager John Ogburn. "This is real people. Like I said, we go to church with, we are friends with, see their kids play Little League, and you don't want to see that happen to anybody."

Ogburn says manufacturing is still a tough sector in our economy. He just hopes Energizer emerges a stronger and more secure company.
