Winston-Salem, NC -- Outside the Carolina Air and Auto Center, the day was about fun and games, but inside, the focus was the future of aviation and automotive technology.
The Air and Auto Center, located on the campus of Smith Reynolds Airport, hosted its open house Saturday.
Visitors learned to fly in flight simulators, worked with metals, learned about engines and enjoyed a full day of other activities at the event, which celebrated a new, state-of-the-art learning center.
Pretty soon, middle and high school students will get a hands-on experience as they learn about the world of aviation and automotive technology.
The Air and Auto Center will offer afterschool and summer youth training programs that will encourage students to get involved in the fields of engineering, math, technology and science.
