Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Science Center's red panda makes its debut Wednesday at 1 pm.
Taiji, a 1-year-old male red panda, arrived at the Greensboro Science Center March 27 after making his trip from the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND. The science center said they kept Taiji in quarantine for the last month to complete his new home and provide a necessary health inspection.
Visitors can meet Taiji at the former site of the Lorikeet exhibit.
The science center said Taiji - Mandarin for birthmark - was given that name because of the black mark above his nose.
Red pandas are an endangered species. Typically, these animals only grow to be as big as a house cat, according to National Geographic. Red pandas spend most of their time in trees in high-altitude forests in Asia.
