Charlotte, NC -- The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning along the Catawba River for both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Forecasters say the warning is in effect until Wednesday morning for the South Fork Catawba River in Gaston County unless the warning is canceled. Another warning is in effect for York and Chester counties in South Carolina, as well as in Mecklenburg and Lincoln counties in North Carolina.
The river is expected to crest at 10.1 feet Tuesday evening before falling below flood stage, affecting a park and some streets in the town of Cramerton.
Emergency personnel are going to local residents to get them out of the way of the rising waters. People living downstream are being told to keep an eye on the rising waters.
