Greensboro, NC - 2 Wants To Know was curious how often something like the recent case out of Ohio happens - where an abducted person is found after being gone for years.
We discovered it is so rare, there's not even readily available statistics on how often kidnap victims are found. The US Justice Departments tracks missing persons cases, and we've asked them for information about the likelihood of someone being found after so long. They're still working on it and haven't gotten back to us yet.
In the meantime, 2 Wants to Know found a 2006 study from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children showing in those cases where a child is killed - they are normally dead within three hours after the abduction. Thankfully just the opposite happened in Ohio.
Of course we'll keep you updated as more detailed information comes in to the WFMY News 2 Information Center.
