Greensboro, NC -- The faculty and staff of a private women's college in Greensboro has been ordered to take six furlough days over the next two months.
The News & Record of Greensboro reported the furlough order for employees of Bennett College is designed to help close a budget deficit.
Interim President Esther Terry wrote late last month that all employees must take off two unpaid days in May and four more in June.
Terry would not talk about the furloughs or the size of the deficit. Bennett is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and has 56 full-time faculty members and about 750 students.
Bennett is one of two historically black women's colleges in the country.
