High Point, NC -- The city of High Point has increased by 75,000 people this week.

Vendors, buyers and designers from around the world are in High Point for the annual Spring Furniture Market.

According to Tom Conley, the President and CEO of the HP Furniture Market Authority, there are about 200 new vendors this year.

Conley said this is a good indicator for the rest of the economy.

"Homes are being built and people are furnishing them," said Conley.

Because of the bombings in Boston last week, there is heightened security at the furniture market this year.

Among the security changes is an increased security presence in the market area, common areas and more security sweeps.

HP Furniture Market runs through Thursday.

If you plan to drive in downtown High Point this week, you can expect delays because of increased traffic and fewer parking spots.
