High Point, NC -- There are 180 buildings, 11.5 million square feet of show space, more than 2,000 exhibitors, and more than 75,000 people to take it all it. It's the High Point Furniture Market and it's in town until Thursday.

Buyers and sellers flock to High Point for the furniture but social events may be drawing a larger crowd this year.

Event coordinators have put together concerts, wine and cheese get-togethers, ice cream socials, dinners and, Paula Deen.

The celebrity chef was in High Point Sunday for a culinary competition.

Students from Guilford Technical Community College competed and created edible centerpieces.

They had only fifty minutes, and during that time, Paula Deen entertained the crowd with her Southern wit and charm.

"It was awesome, she was so personable that it didn't make it to where you were nervous but at the same time you're like, 'This woman is on national TV, oh my gosh, I'm meeting a woman on national TV'," explained Jerry Marsh, a member of the winning GTCC team.

The winning students won $250 and will be featured on Paula Deen's blog.

From culinary design to furniture design, buyers and sellers at this year's market say there is plenty for them do to.

"They really want to make it an enjoyable experience that people look forward to coming to high point, not just for the business, but for the social aspect as well," said Erik Rhyne, buyer.

"I didn't realize there was going to be that many entertainment things going on, I knew that they had wine time and lunches and all that, i was just really impressed," said Calleen Bonilla, buyer.

The market wraps up Thursday.
