Raleigh, NC -- Workers at the Administration Building near downtown Raleigh have been allowed to return to their offices after a suspicious package was found inside.
Kim Genardo, spokeswoman for Gov. Pat McCrory, said the building was evacuated for about 35 minutes shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.
Genardo said a package was opened by a member of McCrory's staff and when it was examined, staffers felt it might be an issue and called emergency personnel.
Genardo offered no additional details, including what was in the package. A firefighter was observed carrying a clear plastic bag out of the building.
The Administration Building houses offices for McCrory's staff and the Department of Administration. McCrory's office is in the nearby State Capitol.
