Greensboro police officers investigate a suspicious bag on South Elm-Eugene Street.

Greensboro, NC -- Greensboro police detonated a suspicious bag that turned out to be an unattended backpack left at the corner of South Elm-Eugene Street and Patton Avenue.

A driver reported the suspicious bag Wednesday afternoon and called 911. It was located across the street from the Water Resources Building. Police responded within minutes and detonated the bag.

The Greensboro Police Department Hazardous Devices Team used a robot to make sure the backpack was safe before examining it. They later found out it was empty.

Anita Holder, Deputy Chief said everyone did the right thing,
"From the motorist who reported the object to the first responders who are trained and experienced in these types of incidents - all the right things happened. We are thankful for the positive outcome."

Investigators said the backpack did not pose a threat to the community.
