One Person Dead, Another Injured In I-40 Tractor-Trailer Crash

Greensboro, NC - The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in a fatal wreck on I-40 East Wednesday morning has been charged with DWI. Greensboro police responded to the accident on I-40 East and Lee Street shortly after midnight.

According to police, the driver of the car Khristopher Blue was driving East on the highway in a Toyota Prius when he ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and came back to the left and stopped facing north in the roadway.

Officers said the tractor-trailer driver was heading east, crashed into the Prius killing the driver and injuring a female passenger. She was taken to Moses Cone with life threatening injuries, police said. 

Allen Coe, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was charged with DWI, DWI in a Commercial Motor Vehicle, and other assorted alcohol offenses.

GPD is continuing its investigation through the Crash Reconstruction department.
