Winston-Salem, NC -- For more than a year the city of Winston-Salem talked about and been approached about possibly selling its coliseum and city owned stadium.

The city announced a series of sessions that will allow taxpayers to weigh in on any decision they make regarding the future of the Lawrence Joel Coliseum (LJVM) and Bowman Gray Stadium.

In a news release, city officials said they are exploring options to sell the LJVM Coliseum and Bowman Gray Stadium to save the city the expense of operating and maintaining these facilities, pay off existing debt and enable the city to address other pressing capital needs.

Anyone wishing to express their thoughts are asked to come to one of the following public meetings:

  • Thursday, April 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Deacon Room at the LJVM Coliseum
  • Tuesday, April 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Bowman Gray Stadium Fieldhouse
  • Tuesday, April 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Deacon Room at the LJVM Coliseum

If you can't attend any of those sessions the city is offering another option: leave comments through an online form or by calling the Citizen Feedback Line at 734-1400. The information and form will be available beginning April 10.
