Mayodan, NC -- McMichael High School principal Leigh Jones returned to school on Friday morning. This come less than two months after she was in a serious car accident that killed the driver who hit her car.

Jones broke nearly every bone below her hips when 70-year-old Linda Chandler crossed the center line on US 220 North January 25. Chandler died after the head-on collision at Moses Cone Hospital.

Jones was in intensive care for several weeks.
To help her recovery, students sent prayers and well wishes through social media.

Austin Case is a Junior DMHS and after hearing about his principal's serious accident, he decided to start the hash tag #prayformsjones.

"She makes every student feel important so everyone loves her and I knew that everybody that seen it would want to use it or retweet it or tweet something about it to give their thoughts to her," explained Austin in January.

Ms. Jones is now at home and in rehab. She is in a wheel chair but hopes to walk her students across the stage at graduation in May.

WFMY News 2's Morgan Hightower spoke with Ms. Jones Friday and will have her story tonight on WFMY News 2 at 5.
