Greensboro, NC-- Sometimes the kindness of a stranger can forever change someone's life.
That has never been more true then on Tuesday, February 5 in Greensboro. Bill Bentley had a heart attack in his car in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Wendover Ave.
A bystander saw him and jumped in to save his life.
The past five weeks, Bill and his wife, Kaye Bentley have tried to find the man that saved Bill's life without any luck.
Bill's "Guardian Angel" called 911 and received instructions on how to perform CPR.
The Bentleys say a prayer everyday thanking God that that man happened to be in that Wal-Mart parking lot.
WFMY News 2 was inspired by the Bentleys' story. We found Bill's "Guardian Angel". His name is Demetris Thompson.
On Tuesday at 5:30, the two men met in the same spot they were five weeks ago...that Wal-Mart parking lot.
"Once I laid him on the ground, he stopped breathing completely until I started pumping his chest with CPR," said Thompson.
Thompson continued to do CPR until the ambulance arrived. Doctors told Bentley he was revived three times on the way to the hospital.
"He was the guardian angel that just had the gumption. He just stepped up and took charge," said Bentley.
Bentley told WFMY News 2 Liz Crawford that locking his door comes second nature to him. For some reason, that day, his door was unlocked and that allowed Thompson to rescue him.
