Grimsley High Whirlies Competiting For Title Of Best Mascot In America

Greensboro, NC -- There are a lot of interesting school mascots across the country, but one local school has one of the nation's best, according to USA TODAY.

After winning the USA TODAY's High School Sports competition for best mascot in North Carolina, according to USA TODAY.

Now, the high school mascot earns a spot as one of the nation's best, according to USA TODAY.  After initially selecting 255 high school mascots from across the US, USA TODAY High School Sports crowned the top mascot in all 50 states and Washington, DC Tuesday.

The Whirlies are competing in Region 2 against the likes of the Obezags from Kannapolis, MD and the Konkrete Kids out of Northampton, PA.

And, Grimsley needs your help to make it to the next round.

The mascot with the most votes by March 14 will move on to the final round of six mascots. The final six schools will compete for the chance to be named the best high school sports mascot in America!

The national winner will receive $2,000 for its athletics department. Second place will be awarded $1,000, third $500, fourth $250 and fifth $100.
