Greensboro, NC -- They don't call Greensboro "Tourney Town" for nothing!
READ: ACC Swim Championships At Greensboro Aquatic Center
This weekend, hundreds of swimmers are at the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the ACC Swimming and Diving Championship.
It's the first time our city has hosted it but besides the prestige, it may hold a pretty big payday for Greensboro.
There are 25 swimmers from each of the ten schools in the conference. Add their coaches, trainers, parents, and friends and fans all coming to watch the meet and you've got a pretty big crowd.
"We've had spectator attendance in the 600 each night so hundreds of people for a 4 night stay at the hotel, at the restaurants, so it's very impactful economically to us as well," said Susan Braman, Manager, Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Whatever the city makes through this tournament, they have the opportunity to double it next week when the men's swimming and diving championship comes to town.
Although impressive, this ACC Tournament is just a preview to what the Olympic Swimming Trials would bring to Greensboro if they're selected.
The city has a one-in-five chance to host the 2016 swimming trials and that could mean a multi-million dollar payday.
The Olympic Site Selection Committee was in Greensboro last week to tour the aquatic center. They will decide which city the Trials will be held in April 27th.
