Denton, NC -- An Amber Alert has been canceled for a 4-year-old who was abducted Thursday in Randolph County.

Investigators said Cayley Rose Owens was found safe in Thomasville. The abductor, Cayley's father Calem Owens is in custody.

Capt. Derek Hill said family members were able to convince Owens to turn himself in and return the child. Deputies are in the process of reuniting Cayley with mom.

According to Randolph County Sheriff's Office, in the incident started after deputies were called to a home on Volunteer Rescue Rd. at 1 pm for a home invasion. They said Calem Scott Owens abducted his daughter, Cayley, from her mother's parents' home at gunpoint.

Calem Owens has been charged with Breaking and Entering, Larceny, Possession of Stolen Goods and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Sheriff Reid told WFMY News 2 that Calem was supposed to have Cayley today, but she didn't want to go with him and her mother didn't make her go with him. Sheriff Reid says that's what prompted him to take her.

Officers said Cayley Rose Owens is a 4-year-old white female about 3' tall and weighs 36 pounds. She has blonde hair, hazel eyes and was wearing a black shirt with X's and hearts, blue jeans and no shoes.
