Greensboro, NC - Police said the driver who hit a school bus on E. Friendly Ave. shortly after 8 am Tuesday kept going after the accident.

Police said Gill Beck Jr., a student at Grimsley High School attempted to merge into the right lane when he struck the left rear tire of the bus.

Beck told officers that he thought he had hit a trash can, so he kept going after hitting the bus. Beck told police that he didn't see the bus because of sun glare.

Police verified that sun likely produced a glare when the crash happened.

There was minimal damage to the bus and the driver was able to still take students to school. Beck's did car sustained some damage.

The Sternberger Elementary students who were on board at the time of the crash were not injured, police said.

Police cited Beck for Improper Lane change.
