Burlington, NC - Laughter heals the soul! It's an old saying, but there's a lot of truth to it. Relay for Life of Alamance County is hosting a family-friendly comedy night to help fight cancer.
The show is Friday, February 8th at Burlington's Paramount Theater. It features three North Carolina comedians: Herb McCandless, Marion Spears Karr and D. Cameron Williams. "It'll be a lot of fun to get people's minds off of their problems for one night," said McCandless.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the box office or by calling 264-3706 or 263-2729.
Tuesday on WFMY News 2's The Good Morning Show, Tracey McCain spoke with cancer survivors about how Relay for Life has helped them through tough times with cancer.
"If it wasn't for the support of my family and my relay family, I would have been lost," said Tina Brown, a 9-year breast cancer survivor.
Colon cancer survivor Rodney Davis emphasized the importance of getting checked. "I ignored pain in my lower rectal area for years," said Davis. "I think men are supposed to get checked when they're 50 but I started having problems at 30. They found it in me at 34/35. If you ever have symptoms, don't be stubborn or embarrassed. Just get it checked," said Davis.
