Greensboro, NC -- A group of local students did their part to make patients more comfortable as they undergo cancer treatment at a local hospital.
Seventh graders at Northern Middle School delivered around 300 small pillows to cancer patients at Wesley Long Hospital Monday. The pillows are meant to go under the seat belts used during port-a-cath treatments.
The students spent the past few weeks learning about cells in their science classes. The cell discussion led to lessons on cancer and cancer treatments. When the students learned about the port-a-cath method, they decided they wanted to help make the treatment more pleasant.
Along with the pillows, students delivered cards to the patients.
