Triad -- It looks like our threat of freezing rain is just about over.  The National Weather Service has cancelled the freezing rain advisory which was originally supposed to go until 9 AM.

There were a few things working in our favor to avoid major ice problems.  First of all,  temperatures didn't fall much Sunday night.  Most places only saw a 1-3 degree drop overnight, leaving the majority of the area above freezing.   Also, rainfall totals were low. Most places got less than .05" of rain.

As we go through the day, temperatures will eventually reach the mid 40s.  There is still a chance of a few showers or drizzle through the day but it isn't likely to be anything heavy.

If you are ready for a warm up, just wait one day.  As a surge of warm air pulls in, highs will head for the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday.  There is another rain chance on Wednesday.  It will be warm but also breezy and wet.  We clear out and cool down again by Thursday.
