Hunger knows no season...and families all across the Piedmont need your help. WFMY News 2's Food 2 Families is teaming up with the Boy Scouts and Lowes Foods to collect food to feed those in need.
WFMY News 2 works closely with the Boy Scouts of America, promoting its Scouting for Food community service initiative.
Scouting for Food is an annual food collection drive orchestrated by Scouts from the Old Hickory Council and the Old North State Council. Area Scouts distribute plastic bags to homes across the region and then return to collect the bags filled with food donations. The bags are collected and carried to local food pantries, churches, shelters for the homeless, and other agencies that feed those in need.
----Saturday, February 2nd - Scouts will go door-to-door and drop off plastic bags for you to fill.
----Saturday, February 9th - Place bags of food on front porch by 9am for Scouting for Food!
*Please donate non-perishable food only, and do not include any glass containers. See the list below for suggested food items to donate.
If you do not receive a bag at your home, you can still participate. Look for collection bins at local Lowes Foods stores. You can donate non-perishable foods at participating stores across the Piedmont.
The economy has placed a strain on food banks, which play a vital role in making food available. We can all work together to provide food to families from Boone to Burlington!
Frequently Asked Questions:
