Greensboro-- If all the pieces of the puzzle come together just right, the Piedmont will see it's first snowfall of the winter season Thursday evening.

The developing situation is one where moisture will be moving out as colder air moves in. Even so, there will be a period of time Thursday night where conditions will be ideal for some snow.

Rain is expected to develop Thursday morning and continue throughout much of the day. A cold front will approach and usher in colder air by evening. As the cold air mixes with the moisture, rain will begin to mix with and gradually change over to all snow from west to east.

Snowfall amounts of 1" to 3" are possible mainly on grassy areas. Ground temperatures remain fairly warm. As the snow begins, roads will be mainly wet. However as temperatures continue to fall, some ice will likely accumulate on roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses.

This could cause some dangerous driving conditions for travelers during Friday morning's commute.
