Greensboro, NC -- The city's zoning commission unanimously approved a plan to bring a Dollar General to Phillips Ave. in Monday night's meeting.
The commission voted to sell the land to Glandon Forrest LLC, who will build the store on the lot at 2104-2108 Phillips Ave., as well as 1518 Bartow Pl.
The area has been vacant for at least twenty years, according to a zoning commission spokesman.
In Monday's meeting, only one resident spoke out against the store, citing the potential for traffic and crime as his concerns.
Now that the commission has made a decision, the plan must make it through a 10-day appeals window. If anyone comes forward in opposition, the matter will be turned over to the city council.
The Dollar General, which Glandon Forrest expects to open by August will employ 10 to 12 people.
