Greensboro, NC -- Four Greensboro schools received checks from a local grocery store chain to help support educational programs in the area Monday.
Harris Teeter donated $4,000 to four organizations in Greensboro schools. Store Director David Fulp presented the organizations with checks worth $1,000 each.
The recipients were Our Lady of Grace Catholic School, the Grimsley High School Band Boosters, Grimsley High's Choral Program and Grimsley's PTSA. These checks were in addition to money the schools receive from the chain through their participation in the company's Together in Education program.
The money came from Harris Teeter's incentive rewards received through the North Carolina Education lottery. The lottery gives these incentives to retailers who sell winning jackpot tickets in the Carolina Cash 5 game.
In all, Harris Teeter has donated more than $9,000 in incentive payments since last January. The store started selling tickets in 2010.
