Raleigh, NC -- Gov. Pat McCrory says his administration will put North Carolina on a better road to economic recovery without getting in the way of unlimited opportunities across the state.

McCrory spoke Saturday at the state's inaugural ceremony on the south side of Capitol Square.

Thousands gathered in downtown Raleigh on Saturday morning for the inaugural ceremony. The traditional event is where Council of State members are officially sworn in to office.

McCrory and Lt. Gov. Dan Forest took their oaths several days ago, but took them a second time publicly Saturday.

All of McCrory's Council of State members were installed to their positions during the ceremony.

In his speech, McCrory said his parents moved to North Carolina in the mid-1960s when the state was poised to become the leader of the new South it became. But he said people are hurting now in communities across the state because the state's unemployment rate remains among the nation's highest.
