Man Charged After Leading Guilford County Deputies On High Speed Chase

Pleasant Garden, NC-- A man spent the night in the Guilford County Detention Center after leading deputies on a high speed chase during rush hour.

Around 5pm on Thursday Sheriff's Deputies tried to stop a Toyota Camry near the area of Pleasant Garden Rd. The driver refused to stop and continued speeding through county roads.

As the driver approached a high congested area of the city limits, Deputies were able to end the chase ended near Holden Rd and Vandalia Rd in Greensboro. Officers used a Precision Immobilization Technique.

The vehicle was stopped with no injuries to the people in the car or the officers involved in the pursuit. The driver identified as Luke Genopolos of Pleasant Garden was arrested.

Genopolos is charged with:

  • Felony Speed to Elude Arrest
  • Driving While Impaired
  • Failure to Head Blue Light and Siren
  • Careless and Reckless
  • Driving While License revoked
  • Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign

Genopolos was booked into the Guilford County Jail.
