Greensboro, NC - Rather than spending the day opening their own gifts, a Burlington family spent the day in Greensboro helping the homeless.
The Evans family spent their Christmas morning handing out blankets to men and women under bridges or other places called home to those without a permanent address.
Ndongoi Evans said "we are just going to drive around and look for homeless, and just talk to them, give them some words of encouragement and just give them a blanket to help them."
The family collected 250 to 300 hundred blankets to give out to the homeless in the community.
Donna a homeless person that received one of the blankets said "it meant the world to me. I can't tell you how much."
"We are use to being on the receiving end of Christmas and just giving it just makes you feel a different way" said Ndongoi Evans Jr. who was passing out the blankets.
The family said they plan to make it a Christmas Day tradition.
