How To Make Christmas Balls Like Sunset Hills

Greensboro, NC-- Sunset Hills has become the place to cruise for Christmas lights gazing, because of its unique display.

The neighborhood located off West Market and West Friendly Ave. have grown use to causing traffic backups as it "tree lights" have become for moving spectators only.

The lights come on in the Sunset Hills Community around Thanksgiving and neigbhors now request that drivers voluntarily dropped off canned goods that is donated to a food bank.

Jonathan Smith an inventor and organizer said they normally donate half of the food to Greensboro Urban Ministry and the other half to Second Harvest Food Bank in Winston-Salem. 

The tradition started in 1995 when Smith's daughter came home from Raleigh with an idea she had seen. He rushed to the hardware store and came home with supplies to build light balls.

The tradition has become so popular other neighborhoods and people are making their on lights.
