Little Rock, AR (KTHV) - Your holiday shopping may be in high gear, but there are some items you may want to wait for, and others you should get right away.

Here are some items to buy, and not to buy in December from Yahoo! Shine.

Toys - Your kids may want all the latest toys, but the deepest discounts on toys come the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

Electronics - The best electronics to buy in December are tablets and TVs, especially non-name brand. Blu-rays and DVDs are also discounted this month. But, laptops are historically never at an all-time low during the month.

Holiday Shopping: Sticking To Your Budget

Home Goods - Kitchen items are good to buy in December as they're typically marked down. Linens, however, are not. Wait until January for those. Furniture is also a no-no, again wait until January.

Winter wear & gear - Most items are discounted when they go out of season, so during December these items are marked full price. Wait until it warms up.

Holiday goods - The best time to buy is when the holidays are over when stores are clearing out their inventory. Also, this is a good time to buy cheap champagne in advance of your New Year's celebrations. Vendors are hoping to cash in on the celebratory business by slashing prices. But hold off on a new wall calendar.

Big ticket items - One item you could save on is a wedding dress as December isn't a big wedding month, vendors are trying to keep sales going. Also buying a home in December is a smart move. Yahoo! Shine says many sellers take properties off the market during the holidays, so those who don't are truly motivated to sell.

But, hold off on buying jewelry, watches, and gym memberships. The first two are great gift ideas so no discounts there, and with New Year's resolutions of weight-loss aplenty, gyms have no incentive to discount memberships.

Seasonal produce - Many fruits and veggies are in season and cheap, so buy them in December. You can save on beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, kale, leeks, onions, potatoes, radishes, sweet potatoes, turnips, and winter squash. Seasonal fruits include clementines, grapefruit, kiwi, lemons, limes, mandarins, oranges, pears, and tangerines.
