Triad -- It was a cold day in the Triad on Saturday. The official high at the Piedmont Triad International Airport only made it to 49. That was after a low of 35.
The same high pressure system will remain in control through the day on Sunday. That will make for a very cold wake-up. In fact, it will be the coldest so far this season. Our coldest temperature up to this point was 31. That was reached on November 16th and again on the 23rd.
Tonight temps are likely to drop to the mid 20s. That will make for a cold wake-up. It won't get much warmer even in the afternoon on Sunday. Highs will range close to 50. The breeze will also pick up in the afternoon.
Warmer air should return on Monday. As the wind pulls out of the south, we will get close to 60. It won't last long though. A cold front will pull through on Tuesday and will bring with it a chance of rain. The chance is up to 50%. We could use the rain since we've had less than a quarter inch at the airport since mid October.
