Greensboro, NC -- Thousands of shoppers filled the Four Seasons Town Centre on Friday morning just after midnight. About sixty-five stores opened their doors at midnight. Last year, only about 45 opened that early. The rest of the mall opened at 6:00 a.m.

Shoppers like Lee Arphai and Juliana Adedoyin were among the first to enter the mall. They told WFMY News 2 it is an annual tradition for them to stay up late and shop early to get the best deals. They left with bags full items they purchased for half price.

Four Seasons management said everything ran very smoothly when the doors first opened and there were no major incidents.

By 6:00 a.m., new groups of shoppers were filling up the mall, looking for the next wave of deals. For some it is all about the deal, for others, it has become a tradition to bargain hunt with family, friends and loved ones.

Kalyn Sisco and her friend Katherine Micka started shopping at midnight. It's something they've never done before, but wanted to experience.
"There were actually less crowds than I thought there would be. But, I definitely got a bang for my buck. I had my birthday money and I took it out here to see what I could find. I got eight big ticket items for $68."

Micka added, "Even if I hadn't gotten such good deals, it was just fun. Plus, I got to be with my best friend and my mom. So, it was a good day."

If you're looking to save even more money, consider downloading a few free apps for your smartphone. RetailMeNot will allow you to search for coupons for your favorite retailers. RedLaser allows you to scan a barcode on items you see in a store and it will show you the prices at nearby stores. More and more stores will now pricematch, which will save you a trip to a competing store and put a little extra money in your pocket.
