The University of Maryland announced it's moving to the Big Ten.

The school was one of the founding members of the conference. The ACC was established in 1953.

Maryland could pay as much as $50 million as an exit fee before they leave in 2014.

Todd McFall from Wake Forest University says Maryland should see more money after its conference move.

"The conferences, and the Big Ten was the leader in this, have made big investments in their own television networks. For the Big Ten, the Washington, DC metro area is a big market for them," McFall said. "For Maryland this was a big win because now they get to be the Big Ten entity in that ares."
