Greensboro, NC - It's the time of year when everyone gets into the holiday spirit and there's no better way to do it than to help someone in need.
The Guilford County Hotel Motel Association is leading the way with its 2012 Blanket and Linen Drive to help the homeless in our area.
WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain was live Monday morning at Ashford Suites in High Point, just one of the locations collecting your donations this season.
The 2012 President of the GCHMA, Chris Adams, explained why the group got involved and how you can help. "As we enter the holiday season and the weather gets colder, the homeless population is greatly in need of linens" said Adams. "Our group is collecting items this month to help the Salvation Army and Greensboro Urban Ministry get those to people who stay in their shelters and others who are on the street."
Accepted items include sheets, blankets, pillows, pillow cases, towels, washcloths, opened or unopened toiletry items (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower gel, toothpaste), and unopened bars of soap.
You can drop items off through the end of November. Any of the following Guilford County hotels will take them.
The Greensboro Marriott Downtown,
The Greensboro Comfort Inn,
The Best Western Windsor Suites in Greensboro and Ashford Suites in High Point. For more information on how you can help call the GCHMA office at 336-378-6465.
