Winston-Salem, NC-- Police in Winston Salem are asking the public for help catching a person they said has stolen air conditioning units from a school and a church.

Investigators said the thefts started in the Summer. The units were taken from buildings located on Lansing Dr.

Since August 9, Detectives said the thief has targeted Quality Education Institute. They believe the person removed two industrial type Trane AC units that were valued at $10,000.00 each.
A day later, a smaller Trane unit was removed from the same location. It was valued at $5,000.00.
On August 11, two more large industrial Trane units valued at $10,000.00 each were taken.

Across the street from the school the church reported that someone tampered with their three AC units taking small copper components off of it resulting in several thousand dollars' worth of damage.

On October 13, police said someone, possibly the same suspect, hit the church again. The person stole two new AC units from the church. These units had been purchased to replace the damaged units. Damage resulted in a $16,000.00 loss.

Officers said Quality Education Institute installed cameras in late October to watch their property, and on November, 13 the camera captured the suspect stealing another AC unit. This unit was valued at $10,000.00.

Footage from the school shows a male subject wearing a light doo rag, light vinyl type jacket, blue jeans, and black and white shoes with white shoestrings. It appears this subject is on foot. Footage showed the suspect take apart the entire unit and carry it away piece by piece.
