Greensboro, NC -- While they're helping restore the city of New York, firefighters need a little help of their own.

Mattress GO Round donated 35 new queen mattresses to Sandy victims in New York City Monday at Greensboro Academy.

The mattresses were loaded onto a tractor-trailer, which has been at the school since Saturday. Everything inside will go to firefighters and their families as they cope with the damage from Superstorm Sandy.

Starr O'Hal, a McLeansville resident, organized the event. Starr has children at Greensboro Academy, and her husband, Gary, is currently stationed at FDNY Battalion 47. The station is located in Queens, an area hit hard by Sandy.

The trailer, now full of mattresses, along with other household items, will leave tonight for New York's Rockaway Beach area.
