Greensboro, NC -- Need help getting rid of the leaves lying around in your front yard? Well, the city of Greensboro's got you covered.
The Field Operations Department is kicking off it's Loose Leaf Collection Program Tuesday.
The city has scheduled two collection periods. Leaves left curbside by Nov. 13 will be picked up by Dec. 21. Leaves left curbside by Dec. 26 will be picked up by Jan. 26.
If you want the department to pick up your leaves, be sure to follow these guidelines:
- Rake leaves to the edge of your yard behind the curb - not in the street.
- Remove sticks, rocks and other debris that may damage City equipment.
- Do not park vehicles on, in front of, or near leaves.
The leaf collection program helps keep leaves from blocking storm drains and prevents decaying leaves from polluting our lakes and streams. The city turns collected leaves into compost for gardens and landscape areas.
If you'd like to purchase the compost, it will be available at the White Street Landfill located at 2503 White St. Call 336-373-2489 for more information.
Greensboro residents can also use the year-round yard waste program. Put your leaves in clear plastic bags or in a plastic or metal garbage can and set them at the curb on your regular trash collection day.
