Barry Wilson, Hannah Wilson's dad.
Guilford County, N.C. - After Hannah Wilson lost her grandmother, her father died of a heart attack later that same day. Then, someone broke into their home and stole their valuables.
Hannah and the Guilford County Sheriff's Department think a thief saw the deaths as an opportunity to steal.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old is still trying to cope with losing two loved ones.
"It's just like this crushing, physical pain. It was emotional, but it actually hurt physically in my chest when the nurse said he didn't make it. It's the worst moment of my life. There's no comparison to anything else," Wilson said.
Hannah's father, Barry Wilson, was an Army vet and a loving father.
"You're not supposed to lose your dad this young. No one is. I wouldn't wish this on anyone in the world," Wilson said.
When she discovered someone broke into her dad's home and stole his televisions, digital camera and hunting gear, it appalled her. "I just don't know what kind of person does that. What kind of person hears that someone has died and thinks, 'What a good opportunity to steal things?' I don't understand that," Wilson said. "I can't even imagine that thought. It's just awful."
Guilford County Sheriff Captain Phil Byrd said, "Someone that will break in and steal from someone you know if deceased, you know they have very low values."
Hannah's dad always wanted her to go to college and she told WFMY News 2 she plans to make him proud by enrolling in college after she graduates from high school.
